Healthy food nutrition – the foundation for holistic health and wellness.

The power of superfood nutrition can radically change your life. This is one of the keys to finding a permanent weight loss solution.

My personal experience with getting superfoods into my daily diet has been one of the single most powerful way to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

This is something I have only discovered by doing it, and the same applies to you. No amount of theory or explanation will convince you of this – you simply have to start getting superfoods into your diet on a daily basis to experience a radical change in your health and energy levels.

This is one of the easiest ways of leading a healthy lifestyle, and people I have encouraged to do this, who have taken action, have always given me profoundly positive feedback about the change in their life.

The reason superfoods can have such a positive effect on a healthy lifestyle plan are as follows:

Superfoods are nutrition packed, so you do not need to eat a large quantity of them. For example, every morning I take two tablespoons of bee pollen, and two tablespoons of Spirulina.

This is a very small amount of food to digest, yet it fills me with energy and meets my body’s need for a nutrition healthy diet. I can run for most of the day on just this small amount of healthy nutrition.

Because I am eating less, it is natural for me to maintain an optimum weight, lose a few extra pounds, and most important, I have loads of energy because of the super, rich nutrition I am digesting.

Permanent weight loss tip - If you are not getting super rich, healthy nutrition into your daily diet then your body is going to be always feeling hungry. This is how your body tells you it needs better nutrition.

This one fact causes you to overeat, and this is a big cause of being overweight, unhealthy, low on energy, and not living a healthy lifestyle. On this crucial point:

Much of the food you buy in stores is highly processed, which strips most of the nutritional value out of the food. Frozen TV dinners and pizza are two examples.
Another example would be any goods that used white refined flour and refined white sugar. For example, I know it is easy to eat an entire pack of donuts, yet still feel hungry.

If you are still hungry after eating an average portion of food, then you are not getting any decent nutrition into your body.

Stop overeating because you are starved of good nutrition!

My big permanent weight loss tip for you is to stop overeating by using more superfoods in your daily healthy nutrition plan.

- Get into healthy nutrition eating by getting some superfoods into your diet.

Adding the following two superfoods into your daily, healthy nutrition diet plan is easy. Eat them not just because you are hungry, but to load yourself with super, rich nutrition that will fight disease, help you lose weight, and fill you with energy.

You should consider including these foods into your daily healthy nutrition plan:

Blue green algae – such as Spirulina. This is a freshwater blue green algae, and can be ranked as one of the most nutrition rich food sources on the planet. I would rate this in my top healthy nutrition tips.
Loaded with vitamins and minerals, including calcium, iron, and protein rich. Spirulina also helps pull heavy metals out of your body -

great to mix in with a smoothie for breakfast.

Bee pollen – most people are not aware that bee pollen is a food source. In fact it ranks as one of the most complete and nutritious. Ancient Greeks and Romans called it the secret ‘ambrosia’ eaten to acquire eternal youth. I would also rate this in my top healthy nutrition tips.

Tip from your weight loss life coach: It is important to keep your bee pollen in the refrigerator or freezer as heat, even room temperature, will destroy its potency!

Some nutritionists have stated that you could survive on bee pollen alone.

Taking a tablespoon of bee pollen in the morning with some water will add loads of energy to your day, and suppresses your appetite – great tip from your weight loss coach.

An interesting point about metabolism is that have you, like me, noticed that some people who are skinny can get away with eating almost anything and don’t seem to gain a pound? At the same time, there are others who watch their calorie intake closely and still seem to gain weight.

This is a matter of metabolism due to genetics, and while there is little you can do about genetics, you can always change your metabolism through healthy eating and nutrition.
Metabolism refers to the various processes a cell uses to continue performing its functions. As an example let’s say a cell’s function is to create heat. One way to do this is to break down another chemical.

Think of a wood burning stove, it uses wood for fuel, the wood is the substance that is broken down by fire into ash. The result of this is heat produced. You can think of the fire as the metabolism of the wood burning stove. If the fire is burning hot, the wood will burn quickly producing quick heat. If the fire is barely going it will take a long time to burn the wood and little heat will be produced.

Someone with a fast metabolism,, will have a hot fire inside them that can quickly produce heat, by quickly burning or turning the food consumed into energy. So, a large volume of food will be quickly burned up and turned into ash. They will be the skinny type of person who can seem to eat anything and not gain any weight.
Someone with a slow metabolism will have a fire that is barely going inside of them, so they will take a long time to burn the food consumed, and they may not be able to burn the food into ash. This unburned food will be stored as body fat – someone who watches their calories but still seems to gain weight.

What to do if you have a slow metabolism?

You may have a slow metabolism due to genetics, or as a natural result of aging. Choosing foods that are easier for your slow metabolism to burn up, and choosing foods that can help stimulate your metabolism are the main ways to treat a slow metabolism.

Healthy lifestyle tips from your holistic health coach:- Some suggestions for stimulating a slow metabolism are:

Add some hot peppers such as jalapeno or cayenne peppers to your healthy nutrition plan.
Eat whole grains like brown rice and oatmeal. These foods are slow release carbs, or they give you long term energy that will prevent you from snacking on sugar, pastries etc. This is an important part of making healthy lifestyle choices.
Apples, pears and green tea have all been shown in studies to help speed up metabolism.
Exercise and get sufficient sleep An inactive lifestyle, and sleep deprivation will slow your metabolism, and create the potential for health problems. This is another key to add to your healthy lifestyle habits.

 

Our metabolism is related to our body’s constant need for energy, and where it gets energy from.

Our body is hungry for energy 24/7.

Even when you are sleeping your body still needs a minimal amount of energy to keep breathing and keep your heart pumping. When you are awake your energy needs escalate relative to the activity you are engaged in.
We get a certain amount of energy just from breathing, but of course our main source of energy comes from our daily food consumption. Carbohydrates, sugars, protein, and fats are the main sources.

Eat less saturated fats and more unsaturated, and stay away from fried foods as much as possible as the cooking / heating process turns even healthy fat sources into unhealthy trans fats.

Try to reduce baked goods like donuts, bear-claws, and similar products from your healthy lifestyle diet. I know how tempting and tasty these are, but they do nothing for your health and energy but put on extra pounds on your waistline.
In my own life I remember eating a lot of fried food and baked goods at one point and watched my weight increase with extra body fat quite quickly.

Three great sources of unsaturated healthy heart fats are: olives, nuts and seeds, including virgin pressed oils.

When I switched to eating olives, nuts, seeds and healthy oils like coconut oil for my energy sources I started to lose the extra body fat and also gained fuel for my energy needs.

Tip from your weight loss coach for a healthy lifestyle change for weight loss:

To lose weight faster, change a meal choice every day. Instead of a burger and fries go for a salad with olives, avocado, mushrooms, spinach, and some nuts and seeds. Add some smoked or cooked salmon to this

This will fill you up and give you healthy fats for your energy needs.

An interesting story on nutrition and healthy eating: Hawaiian native people are highly prone to suffer from diabetes, obesity, and cardio-vascular disease. The rate of these diseases, especially diabetes, is much higher in their ethnic group than the national average.

Studies have shown that when Hawaiian people who are suffering from diabetes, obesity and cardio-vascular disease change their diet from an average western diet (fast foods, frozen pizza, etc.), back to a traditional pre-western diet of fish, island fruits, poi (Taro), water and coconut water, a dramatic improvement occurs in their health.

For many Hawaiian islanders who make this transformation, the results are often ‘miraculous.’ Often their diabetes, obesity, and heart disease are reversed, or disappear, and at the least their health improves greatly due to their new healthy food nutrition.

On the one hand you could argue that their body’s genetics developed over hundreds of years is used to these staple foods of fish, taro, and island fruits.

On the other hand, you could argue that:

This simple diet is what nutrition and healthy eating is all about: a healthy diet plan without loads of unhealthy fats, refined sugars, and processed foods.


The bottom line is that our modern diet with loads of diversity, and eaten in large amounts, plays havoc with our health.

Healthy diet plan tip - Create your own staple foods in your healthy diet plan for living a healthy lifestyle.
The essence of this Hawaiian story is that when you feed your body the same healthy nutrition from staple foods over and over again, your body becomes very efficient at extracting the nutrition. This builds powerful health through nutrition.
The opposite is also true, when you eat a great diversity of foods all the time, then your body has a more difficult time in extracting the nutrition.

In my journey of experimenting with my diet to gain extra energy and fight disease, I discovered the power of this Hawaiian story in my life. I simplified my diet down to a few very good staples, and began to feel the health benefits of a great healthy nutrition plan.

As an example, I love brown rice, millet and quinoa and eat one of these with almost every meal as my grain of choice, I usually have steamed broccoli every meal (not just because it is healthy, but I actually enjoy it!), steamed onions, and I most often have tofu for my protein source.

Does this mean I cannot enjoy a diversity of food choices? No, of course not, for I believe anything in moderation is a great code to live by. I really enjoy my nutrition healthy eating with my staple foods 5 or 6 days of the week, and this makes my other days free to be as diverse as I want in my food choices.
Note: simplifying does not mean boring. Having a number of staple foods that you build into your daily diet does not mean you eat exactly the same meal every meal. For example, my primary protein choice is tofu, and there are dozens of ways to prepare this protein.

The same is true for you, let say your main protein is fish or chicken. You can find hundreds of recipes for preparing your fish or chicken by varying your selection of spices, flavors, and sauces that change the taste of your meals and still give you a feeling of diversity to your taste buds.

Key point from your nutrition life coach: The power of simplifying your diet cannot be emphasized enough – this is a huge key to good health!

Simply your diet, so 5 or 6 days out the week your daily menu ingredients are your staple food items. You can enjoy the great diversity of foods and restaurants on your other days.

The following foods are good types of staple food examples:
Rice and other grains – brown rice as an example is considered one of the more nutrition foods you can consume. Loaded with minerals, vitamins, fiber and protein. A great addition to a healthy nutrition plan.
 Nuts and seeds – packed with nutrition, and a calorie powerhouse. Eaten in moderation they are a great source of healthy fats that your body can use for energy. They are also a good substitute for sugar as an energy source.

 Leafy greens - loaded with fiber, vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals. Kale, Spinach, Swiss Chard, Mustard and Dandelion greens are all highly nutritious and tasty - great steamed or in salads.

Salmon and other fish– tastes great and loaded with nutrition. Another great addition to your healthy diet plan.

Berries – high in Vitamin C and anti-oxidants. Top of the list are Blueberries, Raspberries and Blackberries, which also make a nice desert dish.

Beans – good source of nutrition and good for weight loss as they give you energy, and are filling.

Disease of any kind - even being overweight - has a lot to do with our body being overloaded with toxins, and not getting enough super rich nutrients into our bloodstream. We will look at ways in this article to get rid of unwanted toxins through internal cleanses.

Apart from getting rid of potentially deadly toxins in your body some of the benefits of doing an internal cleanse are:
- Will build a stronger immune system to help fight major diseases like cancer and heart disease.
- Can help you lose weight.
- Will boost your energy.

-Can improve your breath, hair and skin.
- Can help you think more clearly.
- Will help you live longer through anti-aging and a better sense of well-being.

The world is full of many amazing foods, herbs and chemicals found in the natural world that have powerful benefits in terms of both getting rid of toxins in our bodies, and filling us with needed super nutrition.

The healing properties of some foods and chemicals found in nature are strong enough to classify them as medicines.

Some people are skeptical of the value of internal body cleanses, and for those that are we will return to the metaphor of the body being similar to a motor vehicle.

One thing for sure about a motor vehicle is that with regular use you need to do some basic maintenance like changing the oil, the oil filter, fuel filter, and air filter. After so many miles you will also want to change the transmission oil and flush the radiator.

Doing these things will keep your car running for thousands of miles; however If you don’t do this your car will eventually stop running.

This is a great analogy for the human body – doing a dietary cleanse / flush every year is a great way to maintain your health, and is like a regular oil change.
